Life’s a beach in Malibu, where surf-chic style reigns supreme all year round. For those heading to warmer climates on the West Coast, celebrity fashion stylist Dana Tycher Reisman, founder of personal shopping and styling service DTR Styles, shares her top picks for a relaxed Malibu look.

“Malibu is one of my favorite places in the world – I just love the laid back vibe. The style is beachy and fun, with a little edge inspired by the vibrant Malibu music scene.

its never too late to discuss the best dressed in Brooklyn on sunday night while attending the MTV video music awards. my absolute top five favorite looks, were the following, drum roll please…

Taylor-Swift-In-Hervé-Léger-2013-MTV-Video-Music-Awards-VMAs

Taylor looked absolutely drop dead gorgeous in her old hollywood glam look accepting her first moon man

selena-gomez-versace

Selena was once again a show stopper in her Versace gown, that touched on many of the on going popular trends right now, such as cut outs, sheer, studs, glitz glam, and earth tones. home run again selena!

CIARA STOLE MY HEART. How gorgeous did she look in that dress that the Queen Bey wore a few years ago to the Met Gala. To die for. Hands down, best dressed of the evening.

I cannot even believe I am using this post to say anything positive about MC from the other night. I was actually cringing while watching that performance with Thicke, and if you looked at the audience, they were too! However, she knocked it out of the park with that vintage, but not trying to hard kind of vintage, dolce and gabbana please put your tongue back in your mouth miley! act like a lady!

Last night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the 2013 Billboard Music Awards took place to honor the year’s greatest musical hits on the Billboard 100 charts!!! The presenters and winners entertained us by performing amazing hits such as “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, “22″ by Taylor Swift and “Come and Get It” by Selena Gomez, and what looked to me last night, Selena’s ex boyfriend Justin Beiber performed twice! One solo performance and another, The Beibs was with pop sensation Will.i.Am. Some made their way to talk to the media to discuss their wins and their nominations, but the most important part of the night for me was before the show even started when the stars walked the ‘blue’ carpet in some KILLER looks. My absolute favorite trend of the night were the jumpers!! We all know I am absolutely a sucker for a jumper. It is so easy, you dont have to think about what to wear as a top and bottom, you cover all bases in one look.

dtrbillboardjumpNext, we have the always stunning and adorable, Taylor Swift who transformed into several looks last night after taking home eight billboard awards. Unfortunately Taylor, I loved your look last year at the billboard awards much more than this year’s. But we know you’re trying to go for that whole fun and edgy vibe now…

Some of my other top style choices of the night were all from Taylor’s Best friend and colleague, Selena Gomez. Her first of three major looks was an Atelier Versace dress, Jimmy Choo shoes, and Neil Lane jewels.

Carly, you go girl! I totally disagree with E! Online‘s opinion of you as worst dressed – you rocked that Dyanthe dress!

I’m a firm believer in all black everything. As Parisian fashion royalty Diane Pernet says, “There is no new black, there is only black.” Check out the fierce look I put together for the awards.

dtrbillboardShop my look: I’m wearing Givenchy tunic and pants, Austrian Crystal bib necklace and earrings from a boutique in SoHo, Christian Louboutin Shoes, and Sheer Wolford onesie.

Fashion royalty and the A-list elite joined forces on the red carpet tonight at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Met’s Costume Institute celebrated the debut of their latest exhibit, PUNK: Chaos to Couture. Hosted by Co-Chairs Rooney Mara, Lauren Santo Domingo, Riccardo Tisci and Anna Wintour, this exhibit will be made open to the public on Thursday, May 9. Many of the guests really paid tribute to iconic punk culture and totally played the part! Some of my favorite looks were Nina Dobrev, Nicole Richie, Miley Cyrus, and Taylor Swift.

metgala13Staying true to her classic style, Katie Holmes kept it elegant and chic. I was beyond obsessed with Rooney’s amazing Givenchy dress and yet again, bored with Anna Wintour. Although Beyonce wasn’t one of my favorite looks, I definitely appreciate her efforts and the fashion risks she takes!

Finally, my best dressed vote for the night is the ever-gorgeous Emmy Rossum in a Donna Karan Atelier sheer gown draped with delicate beads and sequins. She paired the, otherwise feminine and innocent, look with a messy braided faux-hawk and seductive smoky eye. Emmy wore jewelry by Iritdesign, including a slew of knuckle rings, and shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti.

Last night, the A-list took the streets of New York for The Great Gatsby premier at Lincoln Center. It is much more than Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan’s irresistibly captivating romance that draws me to this film, opening Friday May 3. Jay-Z executively produced the soundtrack featuring major artists including The Xx, Lana Del Rey, Florence + The Machine, Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Kayne West, to name a few. Plus, the amazingly talented Miuccia Prada designed the costumes for the film. Here are a few red carpet looks that stood out:

gatsbypremierBest dressed definitely goes to the leading lady, Carey Mulligan, who stayed true to her 1920′s elegantly sophisticated and chic character. She balanced flawless Tiffany and Co. diamonds with a strapless, well-tailored, red Lanvin dress; looking fresh faced and youthful. Who was your best dressed of the evening?
